Alana is passionate about helping others and completely dedicated to supporting her client’s needs. Through warmth, compassion, and an extensive and diverse educational background, she helps families to identify and work through barriers so students can thrive in their academic settings.
Over fifteen years ago, Alana began her career in education as a Montessori classroom teacher. This unique instructional experience paved the way for new exciting opportunities. As she continued to explore the diverse learning styles of individual children through private tutoring, she found that many students were not getting their needs met in the classroom. More specifically, many students were not getting the proper reading and writing instruction needed to build a solid foundation. After Alana began her work with mentor Dr. Fran Bowman, a fellow in the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners & Educators, she became fully immersed into the world of dyslexia and well-trained in the structured, multisensory teaching approach. Since then, she has worked with students who are dyslexic, dysgraphic, ADHD/ADD, ASD, in need of executive functioning support, have math difficulties, and require study skills/strategies. Alana has a Masters in Literacy Education and in depth training in Orton Gillingham, Visualizing & Verbalizing, Singapore Math, and Writing Revolution.
Our goal is to help families to identify and work through barriers so students can thrive in their academic settings. We genuinely care about helping each student achieve individual goals and reach full potential. Our tutors are well trained to meet the needs of diverse learners and completely dedicated to the educational field.
