After Alana began her work with mentor Dr. Fran Bowman, a fellow in Orton-Gillingham Academy, she became fully immersed into the world of dyslexia and well-trained in the structured, multisensory teaching approach. For over a decade now, Alana has worked one on one with students who have dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression, and social/emotional issues. She has experience with executive functioning coaching, academic support, and reading & writing remediation. Alana has a Masters in Literacy Education, accociate level training in Orton Gillingham, and training in Visualizing & Verbalizing, Singapore Math, and Writing Revolution.
Through warmth, compassion, and an extensive and diverse educational background, she helps families to identify and work through barriers so students can thrive in their academic settings.
Over 15 years ago, Alana began her career in education as a Montessori classroom teacher. This unique instructional experience paved the way for new and exciting opportunities. As she continued to explore the diverse learning styles of individual children through private tutoring, she found that many students were not getting their needs met in the classroom. More specifically, many students were not getting the proper reading and writing instruction needed to build a solid foundation.
Our goal is to help families to identify and work through barriers so students can thrive in their academic settings. We genuinely care about helping each student achieve individual goals and reach full potential. Our tutors are well trained to meet the needs of diverse learners and completely dedicated to the educational field.
